RED 6 LAKE [CI 15850 / RED 6 LAKE]
Red 6 lake is a red pigment used to colour cosmetic products and/or the skin. It is mainly used to give a red colour to nail varnishes. It is made by replacing the calcium ions in Red 7 with barium and then dispersing the resulting pigment on the salt barium sulfate. This increases the pigments stability and helps ensure an even dispersion of colour in the final product.
