RED 27 LAKE [CI 45410 / RED 27 LAKE]
Red 27 lake is a red pigment often used in waxy cosmetic products, such as lipsticks, to give a lovely red colour. The pigment can be made by precipitating the pigment Red 27, also known as phloxine, with aluminium salts rendering it insoluble in water, which helps prevent leaking of colour in the final product. The treatment also ensures an even spread of pigment in a product.
