RED 28 LAKE [CI 45410 / RED 28 LAKE]
Red 28 lake is a red pigment often used in waxy cosmetic products, such as lipsticks, to give a lovely red colour. The pigment can be made by precipitating the pigment Red 28, also known as phloxine, with aluminium salts rendering it insoluble in water, which helps prevent leaking of colour in the final product. The treatment also ensures an even spread of pigment in a product.
